Subtle Yet Significant Results

Technology continues to advance in order to achieve smoother, tighter skin with as minimal downtime as possible. Our Thermage treatments at Grossman Dermatology work by building deep radiofrequency heat within targeted tissue to create a lifting effect, build collagen, and tighten the skin.

This is a great treatment for those who want a subtle result that progresses over the long term. It’s excellent for all skin types and has proven to prevent sagging and be a true “clock stopper”.

Thermage is safe for use around the eyes, face, and body, and its gentle heating underneath the surface of the skin stimulates the production of collagen. This process jump-starts the body’s natural healing system, resulting in skin that is smoother, tighter, and more refreshed over time. Thermage can be performed on nearly any area of the face or body, thanks to different tips that can be used on the handpiece. From the delicate work of performing eye rejuvenation to addressing larger areas such as the abdomen, this procedure effectively creates beautiful, younger-looking skin.

What Can Thermage Do?

  • Achieve eye rejuvenation
  • Tighten the jawline
  • Reduce loose jowls
  • Deliver a lifting effect to the face
  • Lift the brow
  • Tighten the neck
  • Improve the appearance of wrinkles
  • Improve wrinkles and loose skin of the abdomen
  • Smooth out crepey skin of the knees
  • Reduce “bat wings” under the arms

What To Expect During Thermage

Thermage doesn’t require any anesthesia. Before treatment begins, your skin in the treatment area will be cleansed, and then a “temporary tattoo” (a treatment grid) will be applied to help guide us during treatment. Once this is properly applied, a gel will be applied to help protect the skin while also conducting heat into it.

Once the handheld device begins to “stamp” the area, you will feel the warm heat followed by a cool sensation. The handpiece also vibrates to help distract from the heat. If you do become uncomfortable, the heat can be adjusted. Treatment time typically takes one hour.

Downtime and results

Thermage is a very minimal downtime treatment. Patients may be a little red or splotchy in the treated area for an hour or two, and there may be some very mild swelling. Those who are interested in this treatment should be aware that results can take anywhere from 3-6 months to become apparent, but the results are significant. Maintenance treatments can be performed 1-2 times per year.
